The Big Fish Story is the second part of the thirteen episode of the series Heathcliff and Dingbat. This is based on the Heathcliff, rather than Dingbat. It is followed by the third part of the episode: Detective Ding-a-Lings.
Synopsis[]
Heathcliff performs many attempts to steal the big cod at Mr. Schultz's fish mart, but his efforts are hampered with newly installed security system, which causes Heathcliff trouble to get inside the fish mart.
Plot[]
Heathcliff is walking down the street and carrying a box. he enters a nearby phonebooth, where he puts on his disguise to as Middle-Eastern dweller and heads to the Schultz's Fish Mart. He notices a long line awhile going to the door. Instead of waiting for his turn, he asks the local Police Officer named Casey what is going on. The law enforcer tells him that Schultz caught the largest cod he ever fetched and the fish is currently on display, Heathcliff goes inside to check out the fish and spots the cod. His attraction to the fish on display reveals his cover. Mr. Schultz tells Heathcliff to go away, then he calls Officer Casey to take care of Heathcliff. The officer throws the cat out. Heathcliff lands safely, using a lamp post to get to the ground and walks awaya nonchalanty. He declares he shall come later, which makes Mr. Schultz worried. Officer Casey assures Mr. Schultz, that his fish market is equipped with the latest burglar alarm.
The night falls. Heathcliff uses a trash can to get unnoticed to the fish market. Once in place, Heathcliff uses a spare key to open the door to the shop. Suddenly, the alarm goes off and it summons a mechanical arm, which shakes the trash can Heathcliff is in, and then throws him away past the street, with the tin can bouncing around the city street. Mr. Schultz comments that he'll sleep well, Heathcliff notices overconfidence. Heathcliff performs a second attempt to get inside the fish mart. This time, he goes through the roof door. Once inside, he reaches the giant cod, which turns out to be a inflatable fish balloon. Heathcliff falls for this trick as he is lifted up to the air.
On the third attempt, Heathcliff saws a hole through the wall from the outside and attaches a plunger to the fish, then he attempts to pull the fish with a tow truck. However, the truck is gradially pulled to the hole by Schultz, who took a miniature tractor for this purpose. The truck gets dragged inside, but Heathcliff abandons it before it'd be too late. The failure does not cause a setback for his plans to steal the fish.
Heathcliff performs the fourth attempt by digging a tunnel under the store and sawing a hole close to the giant fish, Heathcliff hears Mr. Schultz approaching and hides inside the fish. Mr. Schultz walks to examine the noise source, but he initially finds nothing. Believing he has been imaging, he heads to bed before he notices the fish sneezing. This breaks Heathcliff's cover, therefore Heathcliff moves inside the fish and attempts to escape. Mr. Schultz goes after the fish and catches it. Heathcliff is spat out the fish and is forced out of here.
The morning breaks. As the sun reaches the sky, Mr. Schultz tells Officer Casey that he outsmarted Heathcliff. A woman in a trench cloat walks out with a fish head concealed under a hat as Schultz greets the person. Once outside the fish mart, the figurine hastens and reveals having orange legs, then heads to an alley. A moment later, it is revealed that it was Heathcliff in person, who has finally got the huge cod. A moment later Heathcliff is seen finishing eating the entire cod without Mr. Schultz knowing, an he is surrounded by the giant fish bones. The episode ends.
