Synopsis[]

Lumberjack Heathcliff takes Sonja's place as "Red Riding Hood" to bring goodies to the Granny's house as the Big Bad Wolf sets an ambush to obtain a prey for eating.

Plot[]

Heathcliff the wood chooper is working at the forest and talking to the audience. At the same time, Sonja the Red Riding Hood is heading to her grandmother's house with a basket. The Hungry Wolf is hiding in the bushes and planning to attack Sonja, for he hasn't been eating for weeks. The wolf reaches Sonja and stops her with the intend of devouring her. Heathcliff stops him by hurling logs of cut and hand-chopped timber, which pin down the wolf and literally roll him away from Sonja, when Heathcliff leaps from the logs. It turns out, that the wolf prevents Sonja from delivering food to her grandmother. After some persuasion, Heathcliff agrees to solve the issue with the troublesome canine and borrows the cape from Sonja, then he heads to Sonja's grandmother's cottage. Sonja is delighted, that Heathcliff elected to risk one of his nine lives for her.

The wolf reaches the cottage first, through a shortcut. He cheats the grandmother with a fake telegram from Red about meeting her in town for a sale, The elderly woman gets easily tricked and she leaves the area. The wolf sneaks into her cottage and dons a disguise. Heathcliff appears shortly afterwards and states, that he doesn't see signs of wolf, despite the cottage door is wide opened. The canine is awaiting Heathcliff in the bedroom. Heathcliff plays the game, asking "the granny" about big eyes and big nose. The wolf replies about sight, not about the nose. Heathcliff addresses the audience, that he suspects the wolf imposting Sonja's grandmother.

The wolf interrupts Heathcliff's monolouge to audience, that he forgot to ask about wolf's teeth. Heathcliff rush to the hearth, where a cauldron is resting above the fireplace. The wolf reveals himself and leaps at Heathcliff. Heathcliff recognizes the cauldron as a soup pot and walks away, so the wolf lands inside the cauldron, spilling the soup around. After brief spinning, the wolf leaps away from the cauldron, yelling from pain, and lands back in the bed he jumped from. The bed springs and launches the wolf high in the skies, which also causes the cottage roof to be pierced. The wolf hits the roof and states, that he maybe should turn vegetarian.

Heathcliff is preparing a soup for "the granny". The wolf insists on using Heathcliff as an ingredient and leaves the bedroom. While Heathcliff is wondering, what is the "dumb wolf" up to now, the canine constructs a railroad track system ending at the cottage's door. The wolf laughs and knocks the door. Heathcliff tells him to wait, so the wolf climbs to the trolley and moves forward. Heathcliff spots the wolf and his invention, then he builds extension of the railroad tracks leading to the hearth, the chimney, outside the cottage and to the chasm in the outdoors. Heathcliff states, that he ran out of tracks, and returns to the cottage. The plan works as expected - the wolf rushes headlong on the trolley and gets outsmarted by Heathcliff once again.

While the wolf is climbing up the chasm, Heathcliff prepares a special meal for the wolf with super hot sauce, chili peppers and mushrooms. He calls "the granny" for the soup. The wolf grudgingly agrees for the soup. When brought the bowl, the wolf empties it and the the hot soup starts to literally burn him from inside. While hiccuping constantly, the wolf leaps from the cottage and runs in circle, yelling for water. He finally flees to the river, where he swims way with the current. Sonja and her grandmother witness this incident.

Once the wolf leaves the area, Heathcliff meets up with Sonja and her grandmother. The elderly woman offers Heathcliff supper with baked salmon as a reward. Heathcliff initially agrees, until his super-spicy soup is mentioned as a meal, which changes his mind. Heathcliff flees, as Sonja and her grandmother are talking about him and how he's "to modest for rewards". Heathcliff complains about a happy ending with the hero not even getting the fish and the episode ends.
