Prized Pooch is the fourth part of the fourth episode of the series Heathcliff and Dingbat. This is based on Dingbat, rather than Heathcliff. It is followed by first part of the next episode: Angling Anglers.
Synopsis[]
A wicked kennel manager seeks for a rare breed of dog to win the dog show to stumble upon Dingbat, which he captures him and takes him to his dog kennel. It's up to Nobody and Sparerib to break him out.
Plot[]
The episode begins with Bowser, a determined Kennel Master on a quest to find a rare breed of dog to enter into an upcoming contest. As he drives through winding roads, he spots Dingbat, a unique “vampire bat dog” distinguished by his one-of-a-kind looks. Seizing this opportunity, Bowser uses Dingbat’s favorite treat—chocolate milk bones—to lure him in. The temptation works, and Bowser successfully captures Dingbat, securing him in his van.
Meanwhile, Nobody and Sparerib, members of the Creeps, soon realize their friend Dingbat is missing. Putting the pieces together, they suspect he has been taken captive and quickly decide to head to the nearby kennel where they believe he is being held.
Inside the kennel, Bowser has placed Dingbat among several other dogs in cages. The kennel manager pressures Dingbat to comply, threatening him with a tough bulldog named Bruiser. To avoid a confrontation, Dingbat hesitantly jumps into a cage, hoping to stay out of trouble.
Determined to rescue their friend, Sparerib and Nobody devise a plan to dig their way into the kennel from underground. As they work on their escape plan, Bowser starts giving Dingbat a bath, oblivious to the rescue mission happening right beneath his feet. When Sparerib and Nobody finally break through, they free Dingbat and make a run for it, but soon find themselves pursued by Bowser, Bruiser, and two other dogs.
In the midst of their frantic escape, Dingbat cleverly disguises himself as a female dog, tricking Bruiser and momentarily distracting him. However, Bowser quickly realizes what’s happening and joins the chase to recapture Dingbat.
Just when it seems they might be caught, the chase takes an unexpected turn as a stack of crates falls, trapping Bowser and the other dogs beneath them. Amid the confusion, Sparerib suddenly feels a sharp bite from behind, discovering that a feisty chihuahua has been nipping at him ever since the crates toppled over.
