Mascot Rumble is the first part of the fourth episode of the series Heathcliff and Dingbat. This is based on Heathcliff, rather than Dingbat. It is followed by second part of the episode Heathcliff of Sherwood Forest.

Synopsis[]

Heathcliff is watching on TV football footage from today's match, where Heathcliff was the mascot of the "Detroit Tabbys" while Spike represents as the mascot of the rival team "Brooklyn Bulldogs".

Plot[]

During the evening in the the city, Heathcliff comes rushing through on the brick wall to corners of town to his house, he meows at the door for his owners to let him inside he runs inside to push the chair closer to the tv, and gets a stroller of fish for him to eat awhile he watches the football game at "Mundane Night Football Halftime".

The sports announcer, at halftime in monday night, the annoccer shows off teams' mascots "Detroit Tabbys" and "Brooklyn Bulldogs" explaining the intense rivalry between to to teams, with their mascots, Heathcliff being the mascot of "Detroit Tabbys", the cat demostates his toughness as he known as by swallowing a footaball that explodes himself of him, they then introudce Spike, mascot of the "Brooklyn Bulldogs" who is reputed to be tough to match his rival, he eats a football (with a wire on it) as he chews, he turns out to thr wire was connected to a helium tank in which Heathcliff uses to inflate Spike to the air into the hot lights making the inflated football in Spike's mouth to explode making him tumble to the ground making a hole in the field, Heathcliff shames and mocks Spike for getting close to the stadium lights, Spike attempts retailate by giving a big fist into Heahtcliff's face until the tabby puts on football helment causing Spike to break into pieces as the result, he bulldog angrily to Heathcliff as the micheif feline looks for his football under a bench in which he pulls up which Spike collides into flattening him to it as Heathcliff demostates what the annoccer is saying, as the annoccer explains that the rivalry is getting heated as Heathcliff waves his oppostions shirt at Spike like he was a "bull looking at red cloth waving" as Spike charges as Heathcliff reveals that there was a football hidden behind the shirt, upon realizing, Spike tries to yield but unfortunely for him as a football player kicks the ball that goes on Spike's mouth that launches him to over the goal post landing to the "Detroit Locker Room" as Heathcliff points out, no visters are allowed during team meeting, Spike comes back into three segments of body: (his bottom, his middle and his head), Heathcliff claiming that "nobody gets hurt in cartoons anymore" as Heathcliff walks away and mentioned "unless it by you know who" as Spike wonders who? and walks to angerly to Heathcliff, fighting is heard and happening off screen with the results of Spike is back tied up as Heathcliff replies "need I say more"?

The next sequence has a full-on chase commencing with a dog and cat chase with Spike chasing Heathcliff with the cat running away from Spike to going up in the staduim stairs as a person orders a hotdog from a hotog vendor as the chases goes inside hotdog basket. Heathcliff gets out as he orders a hotdog which the hotdog becomes a hotdog after being cooked inside as the cat plan to eat it, to Spike suprising him to chasing him a pole the two run up in to they make tit to the top, as Heathcliff waits on the top, as Spike plans to vicously attack Heathcliff for the cat to falling down awhile he falls he scratches the pole and safetly down with his claws, Spike realized he is in high height, grabs to the ball of the pole, as Heathcliff looks up at Spike as the dog shakes his head horizontally saying "no" as Heathcliff shaking his head vertically saying "yes", Heathcliff gives a deep breath at the pole as Spike sighs in realive, as the pole is spliced into pieces making Spike tremebles down to the ground.

The next scene, the sports annoccer tells the audinece about the firece rivalry between the teams, Spike and Heathcliff approach each other to beat each other, Heathcliff leaves the fighting cloud for a time out for a milk break as Spike realize he fighting nothing and returns to orange tabby for a beating each other again, the rowdy cat Heathcliff defeats Spike victorious. as the shocking news that rowdy cat defeated by even the tough Spike, the sport annocing that they would show the rest of game, Heathcliff turns off the tv as he already seen the best part as Heathcliff giggles and smile at the screen.

  • The episode is inspired by the comic strips that feature Heathcliff as a mascot of a football team.
  • The sequence animation with Heathcliff running from corners is reused from Doggone Dogcatcher.
  • Irony: It's ironic when Heathcliff toros Spike like a bull as he is a bulldog.
  • Heathcliff is seen with a cap most of the episode, awhile Spike's hat is only in one scene and is not seen for the rest of episode.
  • The sports annoncer mentions the episode name's "Mascot Rumble".
  • In one scenes where Spike is chasing Heathcliff the entire scene, aside from making a few sound, there was no spoken dialouge in the entire scene until the next.
