Kitten Around is the second part of the 22nd episode of the first season of the series Heathcliff & the Catillac Cats.
Synopsis[]
Riff-Raff intends to make Cleo his steady girlfriend, but complications arise when he becomes enamored with another girl cat named Roxie. As the other Catillac Cats find themselves caught up in Riff-Raff's antics, tensions rise when Cleo discovers his infatuation.
Plot[]
The episode begins with Riff-Raff interrupting Hector, Wordsworth, and Mungo as they sleep, commanding them to clean up the junkyard in preparation for his date with Cleo. When Cleo arrives, Riff-Raff confesses his feelings and suggests they should be “steady” as an official couple. Although initially skeptical, Cleo ultimately agrees to the relationship.
Later that night, after Riff-Raff announces to his friends that he and Cleo are now steady, he learns from Hector, Wordsworth, and Mungo that a new girl cat named Roxie has moved into the neighborhood. The trio excitedly describes her as pretty and sweet, causing Riff-Raff to waver in his commitment to Cleo. When Roxie arrives at the junkyard and flaunts her charm, Riff-Raff becomes captivated and forgets about Cleo, inviting Roxie to his home without considering Cleo’s feelings.
As they prepare for their date, Riff-Raff discovers his refrigerator is empty and expects Hector, Wordsworth, and Mungo to fetch dinner. However, Roxie insists they have dinner first before getting cozy. The group splits up to gather food—Hector goes for milk, Wordsworth for fish, and Mungo for dessert. Meanwhile, Cleo waits for Riff-Raff at the music store, growing anxious as 10 o'clock—the time they agreed to meet—approaches.
Cleo soon sees Hector being chased by the milkman, Wordsworth pursued by an officer for stealing fish, and Mungo carrying what he claims is “dessert.” When she learns that the food is actually for Riff-Raff and Roxie’s date, she becomes even more curious about the situation.
At Riff-Raff's home, he asks Hector to serve them milk, but Hector is growing tired of playing waiter. Riff-Raff throws a fish at him in frustration. As the date continues, Riff-Raff becomes increasingly annoyed when he requests more spice in the fish. Meanwhile, Mungo sneaks in with dessert but gets thrown out after tasting a hot sauce served to Riff-Raff and Roxie, which causes them to gag.
Riff-Raff demands catnip, prompting Cleo to sneak in disguised as a waitress. She fills the bag with catnip, salt, and pepper, causing Riff-Raff and Roxie to sneeze uncontrollably. After a few rounds of sneezing and playful chaos, Cleo's disguise is revealed, leading to a confrontation about Riff-Raff's loyalty.
As Riff-Raff grapples with the fallout of his actions, both Cleo and Roxie, realizing they have been misled, team up to plot their revenge against him. They fake a catfight while the boys look on, leading Riff-Raff to crash through his pinball machine in a panic when he rushes to intervene.
In the end, Cleo and Roxie leave together with Hector, Wordsworth, and Mungo to enjoy a meal, leaving Riff-Raff bewildered and questioning how to navigate his complicated relationships with girls, especially now that he’s supposed to be steady with Cleo.
