Hives is is the second part of the eighth episode of the series Heathcliff and Dingbat. This is based on Heathcliff rather than Dingbat. It is followed by third part of the episode: Batty Boo-ticians.
Synopsis[]
After Heathcliff exacted his revenge on the local sanitation worker, Clem, he developed a condition known as the "Heathcliff Hives".
Plot[]
Heathcliff is enjoying a peaceful walk down the sidewalk, minding his own business and rummaging through a trash bin for food. Suddenly, he is grabbed by Clem, a local sanitation worker who is tired of Heathcliff's relentless antics. Clem beats and ties him up before tossing him to the local dogcatcher, Grubs, who takes Heathcliff to the slammer.
While stuck in the cold confines of the jail, Heathcliff's mind begins to churn with thoughts of revenge against Clem. He devises clever plans to get back at the sanitation worker for his mistreatment. As he imagines various scenarios, Heathcliff's determination only increases. Just as he is considering his best approach, Mrs. Nutmeg, his owner, arrives to bail him out, much to Grubs' confusion.
After making his grand exit, Heathcliff is reinvigorated and more determined than ever to get back at Clem. As he strolls back through town, he spots Clem chatting with Digby, reveling in the ease of their garbage collection duties. Seizing the opportunity, Heathcliff comes up with a mischievous scheme to humiliate Clem.
With a mischievous glint in his eye, Heathcliff uses a lasso to snare a nearby trash bin. When Clem tries to lift it, Heathcliff pulls the rope, sending Clem sprawling through the air and spilling garbage all over Digby, who is caught completely off guard. While the chaos unfolds, Heathcliff notices a delectable lobster hidden in the mess.
Clem lands in the pile of trash, his anger palpable. However, as Clem's temper flares, hives start to sprout on his face. Digby becomes concern and suggests a visit to the doctor, but Clem is far too annoyed to entertain the idea.
Feeling desperate, Clem heads to a dermatology appointment with Dr. Zits Hoff. The doctor conducts various tests, including reflex checks and a visual acuity assessment. After examining him, Dr. Hoff advises Clem to get some fresh air and avoid cats altogether, before leaving for a game of golf, leaving Clem with a hefty bill.
While Digby attempts to console Clem, Heathcliff decides to make the most of the moment. When Clem appears again, Heathcliff calls out to him, causing Clem to jump up onto a low branch in fright. Seeking to further prank Clem, Heathcliff decides to join them for a fishing trip.
As Heathcliff swims in the pond, he playfully attaches a tire to Clem's fishing line. The chaos escalates when Clem reels in the tire, which lands right on his face, further adding to the hilarity of the situation. Embarrassed and furious, Clem leaps out of the boat, swims to shore, and drives off in the sanitation truck, leaving Digby and Heathcliff to ponder what just happened.
Curious about Clem's sudden exit, Heathcliff asks Digby what’s wrong. With a grin, Digby explains that Clem is suffering from the "Heathcliff Hives." Just then, zits start to pop up on Digby's own face, causing him to panic. Realizing he’s caught the same fate, Digby retreats out of the boat and rushes after Clem, leaving Heathcliff to enjoy a peaceful day of fishing, grateful for his victory and triumphantly reeling in his next catch.
