Football Flunkies is the third part of the first episode of the series Heathcliff and Dingbat. This is based on the Dingbat, rather than Heathcliff. It is followed by fourth part of the first episode: Lumbering Loonies.
Synopsis[]
After the the Pussycats get injured, The Creeps fill in for their team and help The Pussycats go agaisnt a heavy-set footaball team called the Bruisers.
Plot[]
The episode starts in a football stadium which have two football teams: the blue and green Brusiers consisting of large heavysets, and the pink and purple Pussycats consisting of lightweights. The cheerleaders of the Bruisers cheer them on the the cheerleaders for the Pussycats were Dingbat and Sparerib with Nobody telling them to show team spririt, they do but, Nobody questions them, they get Nobody mad, but is interrupted by the game starting. The Pussycat quarterback #11 is given the ball and is soon chased by three of Bruiser's Quarterbacks, the pussycat quarterback gives it to the coach which he and his coach are crushed by Bruisers. In the resulting team Pussycat's quarterbacks halfbacks and their coach are injured and are in no condtion to play. Nobody decides they will substitutes for them with Sparerib being quarterback, Dingbat in center and Nobody coaching.
The game starts back. As Sparerib counts to one thousand, a quarterback of the other team tells Dingbat that he will squish him and his bony buddy. Dingbat then declares that he will need to get pass him, he shifts into a bat before the Bruiser quarterback could tackle him. Sparerib finishes counting to get tackled by a bruiser quarterback into fragments of bones, Dingbat then put him back together until he decided that Sparerib's bones are appetizing, before he could eat it, Sparerib grabs his bone off of Dingbat's hand. Nobody blows the whistle and tells them to change their strategy.
This strategy invovled Dingbat skipping into the field to turn to a bat, Sparerib throws the ball for Dingbat to catch, but the strategy falls apart when Dingbat is not able to hold the ball thanks to his size being diminished as he's in the form. Dingbat falls to the ground with the football on top of his belly. The bruiser quarterbacks pounce on top of the Dingbat. Nobody then blow the whistle and call for a stretcher, Sparerib transform himself into a stretcher and two paramedic monsters use him to put a injured Dingbat in, they wrap him with mummy wrapping and return him to Nobody. The jack-o-latern then sees Dingbat is feeling better and puts him back in the field.
It's fourth down for the pink pussycats, it' team's last attempt to try and gain 10 yards. They need to kick the ball to the field goals. Dingbat attaches gum to the football so it would stay in place, he places to the ground for Sparerib to kicking 17 straight field goals, they kept on till they are tied with the other team. The bruisers decided to put a stop to it by stacking on each other to catch the ball, they succeed but this result to them to losing balancing and plummeting to the ground in the process. First down for the bruisers, with two minutes in the clock, Nobody motivates the team, till one of the Bruiser makes him into a football and use him. Bruiser Player #80 then throws the football shaped Nobody for Sparerib and a brusier player chase after it, but Sparerib catches it with the mummy arm. The bulky skeleton then goes the direction to their field goal to meet Dingbat.
They are then approached by the bruisers quarterbacks in front of them, Sparerib gives the ball to Dingbat. The brusier quarterbacks slowly approach nearer toward them, Sparerib transform into a giant jaw trap and chase the blue bruisers to getting their clothes shreded leaving them with their boxers. The creeps succesfully win the game for the pink pussycats, with them winning 57 to 51. Dingbat and Sparerib then celebrated, with Dingbat saying they didn't need Nobody. The football that the dog were holding was Nobody who becomes upset by his comment and chases him and Sparerib as the angry jack-o'-lantern plans to pulverised them.
