Creep Crop Crack-ups is the third part of the seventh episode of the series Heathcliff and Dingbat. This is based on Dingbat, rather than Heathcliff. It is followed by fourth part of the episode: Nautical Noodnicks.
Synopsis
The Creeps find job at a farm, where a farmer girl needs assistance in running the business. First, they replace scarecrows to repel crows eating up grain. The birds indeed lose interest in picking seeds from the soil - instead, they take the undead and drop them through the chimney into the farm house, where the she-farmer is having trouble with her landlord. The Creeps willingly agree to help the she-farmer, despite the landlord finds it amusing.
The first task the Creeps are given is to look after the chickens in the chicken coop. Dingbat gives the hen a bag of Giant Chicken Food and the farm bird consumes it. The food causes the hen to grow large and hatch a huge egg. Dingbat immiediately stamps the egg. Sparerib morphs into a ladder, so Dingbat can climb up and nest it. Meanwhile, the villainish landlord heatens the egg up with the intention to foil the Creeps' plans. Sparerib notices cracks on the egg's shell, apparently caused by sudden warming. The skeleton attempts to mend those with liquid glue, but this doesn't prevent a huge chicken to hatch from the egg. Dingbat avoids falling down, as he shapechanges into a bat. The hatchling mistakes him for an insect and chases Dingbat around the farm. Sparerib keeps fixing up the broken egg shell, as Dingbat leads the hatchling to Nobody. Soon, two Creeps have to flee from the giant chick which grabs them and tosses right at the giant egg, which is having its shell slowly completed by Sparerib. The effort goes in vain, as Nobody and Dingbat hit the patched-up shell, causing it to explode. Nearby chickens lose their feathers and the landlord is having joy. The huge chicken issue is solved by Dingbat, who grabs an inflatable worm from Nobody, then he pumps it and gives the young bird a toy to play with.
Shortly afterwards, the she-farmer asks her ghastly helpers to plow the field and sow crops. At Nobody's command, Sparerib morphs into an undead plow operated by his fellow Creeps. Dingbat sows Creep Vegetables from a tin can Nobody had stored within himself. Their efforts don't stop the landlord from interfering his tenant. Dingbat makes a mistake by trying to sow Creep Hotdogs into the soil, which drives him crazy. As the result, the undead plow moves around the farm quite unpredictably, which causes the landlord to flee and fall into plowed soil with the Creeps. Once they emerge from the soil, Sparerib waters the area which has been plowed. Trees with cans growing from them raise from the soil. One of the cans contains the landlord, so Sparerib presents it to the she-farmer.
At the end of the episode, Sparerib shakes the nearest tree, causing tins to pin down the Creeps. The undead farmhands turn out better than they seem, since they grew already tinned fruits and the episode comes to an end.
